Music, to many people it is considered the art of playing musical instruments in a fashion that they make a sound so beautiful that it makes ears orgasm.

Even though that may be going to far, music has been known, and recorded in history since the Dark Ages. Quotes spring forward inspiring people to do better things with their lives, or help them with a problem. Because after all, “Music Calms the Savage Beast”

Yet, for the last decade, it has been taken advantage of. Right now the Music industry is filled with people who only want to feed their own pockets with money, not caring what the people and their listeners care about, as long as they get the money in the long run it’s all right. Because after all, if it sells a lot of Albums, why would the artist care? Or matter of fact, why would the record company care?

Music is something that comes from the soul; the rhythm that musicians create with their instruments that vary depending on what type of band is playing the music.

I play in a band to be honest, a simple Garage band that blasts its music out for the rest of the neighborhood to hear. We play for fun, for the enjoyment of making music that other people love listening to. For the most part we enjoy playing, the local kids that come out from the block to hear us play and request already “known” songs is just a blast. Time flies when you play music, three hours goes by in about 5 minutes. It’s truly an experience everybody must feel for themselves one day.

Yet, people are always confused when it comes to music. Oddly enough most people buy CD’s without thinking of where the profits go, or what they are actually paying for. All in all, it doesn’t take much to make a CD. A Compact Disc, with all of it’s materials, only costs a fraction of what they sell it for. The customer is paying not only for the Legal papers for the registered work of the artist, but they are also paying for the CD Cover Art designer, and the trademarks, that about covers what the CD is for.

The original artist in a record sale receives quite a bit from the record sale, but only what’s labeled in the Contract, the rest of it goes directly to the record company. The bands of old had a good way of dealing with this, and fans greatly enjoyed it. It was a little process of going out on the road and playing organized gigs at big cities to sell not only your merchandise but also your CD, and other promotion goods. That’s how bands made there money, by going on tour.

Albums were cheap, and the rockstar’s lived life to the fullest. Times were good. People got good music…

Things started to change, and bands started wanting more money, ticket prices rose to unthinkable prices (Now it’s like 30$ for a good concert instead of like 10$), bands wanted more money, and because they didn’t go on tour as often, they couldn’t sell CD’s and other promotional objects to earn money. They stopped making music for the fun and the enjoyment of it, the passion to make music was gone.

They started to make music for the money. As in the natural human trait, Greed took over and all people wanted was money, and the fame. More bands began to “Sell Out” to the major record labels just so they could have the money, not for the fans of the music, but for themselves. That’s the day the music died.

Music is from the soul, something that everybody has a talent for if they actually took the time to learn. Music is something that calms people, or fills them with excitement. Good Music always seems to poke its head up when it’s played by people who do it for enjoyment. Not for the money.

It is not about the money. It never was and It will never be about the money.

Don't support bands that sell out for money, your only encouraging it. Go underground. Listen to real music, Music that comes from the soul.
